Before the Mitch’s Bail Bonds Magicians could celebrate another magical road playoff win, they were stung with a tough 4-2 defeat Sunday at Masontown.

Mitch’s now trails Masontown 2-1 in the Fayette County League best-of-five championship series. The Magicians will have to pull another win out of their hats today in Game 4 at Vets Field to keep their season alive.

The first pitch will be thrown at 6 p.m.

“It was a tough loss in a very tough game,” said Mitch’s manager Ryan Encapera. “We played them tough and held their lineup down. We did everything, except win. The game was there for us and we let it get away.”

Masontown (14-4) led 1-0 going into the sixth inning when the Magicians (9-12) scored twice to take the lead.

Kaleb Scott led off the sixth by reaching second on an error. After Aaron Previsky bunted for a single, the visitors had runners on first and third with no outs.

Tyler Chrise bunted Previsky to second to put the lead run in scoring position.

Masontown pitcher Willie Palmer walked Noah Hansen intentionally to load the bases.

Austin Clark sunk that strategy with a two-run single through the hole at short to give Mitch’s a 2-1 lead.

Palmer then settled down and got the next two batters out to end the uprising.

“When we got the lead, I felt pretty good because (Mitch’s starting pitcher Justin) Shott was pitching so well,” Encapera said.
