The best summer yet

The Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League is rolling toward its end with the playoffs taking place this coming week.

If you haven’t caught a game on the MVI Live stream on YouTube, or better yet at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center, I just have one question.

What are you waiting for?

Hands down, the MVISBL is the premier summer basketball league in the region.

The talent level continues to amaze.

Look at the boys division.

Rodney Gallagher, Jayden Pratt, Keondre Deshields, Devin Whitlock, Daniel Gordon, Robert Cain, Dame Givner, Travarese Rowe, Isayah Mosely, Evan Berger, Eli Teslovich, Will Wagner, Makhai Valentine, Cameron Epps, Bryce Epps, Quinton Martin, Savion Stroud, Tayshawn Levy, Jayden Davis … the list goes on and on.

Spanning the entire WPIAL, the representation and reputation in the boys and girls division continues to grow.

On the girls side, you have a slew of Trinity players like Alyssa Clutter and Eden Williamson balling out in the league. Younger Trinity players came out in masses to tryouts and made rosters this season, and Hillers head coach Kathy McConnell-Miller is courtside every Monday and Wednesday, watching her daughter Macie play in the league, representing Mt. Lebanon.

More local girls stars have shined bright this year including Jasmyn Fisher, Avana Sayles, Hannah Pugliese, Mallory Daly, Laney Gerdich, Viva Kreis, Iyanna Wade, Elle Snyder, Chloe Pordash, Erica Hall, Emma Seto, Maggie Spell and so many more.

The goal all along has been for our players — boys and girls — to get better by facing the best competition out there. That’s what we have.

Thank you to all the players and parents, who aren’t worried about how long it takes to travel to Elizabeth Township to the league’s home Marx’s Court Time Sports Center. It’s never been more obvious through the competition we’ve seen every night that you want to be better and play the best.

That’s what we have to offer.
