George E. ‘Mesh’ Mesher Sr. – Plum Borough

George E. “Mesh” Mesher Sr., 87, of Plum Borough, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Beloved husband of 61 years to Barbara V. Vasiloff Mesher; father of Karen M. Mesher and George E. (Trish) Mesher Jr.; grandfather of Kristen (David) Miller, Justine (David) Chervansky, Christopher Mesher and George E. Mesher III; great-grandfather of Grace, Jude and Luke; brother of the late John Carl (Carol) Mesher and Patricia (Richard) Koscelnik. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. George served in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Donora High School in 1952 and California University in 1960 with a degree in industrial arts, then went on to Penn State University for graduate studies in safety education. He retired from Pittsburgh Public Schools, Peabody High School in 1991, after 35 years of service. While teaching, George coached volleyball, cross country, track and basketball. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD., 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills. Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, in St John the Baptist Church Holy Family Pariah. Interment in Plum Creek Cemetery. Condolences at www.soxmanfuneralhomes.com.
