Marie A. Yex Babines – New Alexandria, Pa., formerly of Donora

Marie A. Yex Babines, 97, of New Alexandria, Pa., formerly of Donora, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 26, 2021, at her home. She was born July 7, 1924, in West Newton, daughter of the late Samuel and Marian Lawson Yex. Marie was a graduate of West Newton High School, Class of 1942, and attended and received a license from the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy. In her younger years, she was a beautician and drove a truck for Diamond Cleaners in Donora. Marie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Newton. She was also a previous member of Donora Lutheran Church until its closing, where she held the position of vice president of the church council for many years and was on Lutheran Church Women. Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was very family oriented, spending every Sunday with her husband, children and immediate family. Marie enjoyed dancing, shopping and listening to WWSW on the radio at home. She was a great cook and baker and loved animals, feeding many neighborhood animals. She is preceded in death by both parents; one granddaughter, Anna Marie Savini; one sister, Daryle Backstrom; and one son-in-law, Jack Savini. She is survived by her loving husband of 77 years, Emil P. Babines; one son, Dennis Babines and wife Guinevere of Albright, W.Va.; one daughter, Nanette M. Savini of New Alexandria, Pa.; five grandchildren, Shawn (Amy) Babines, Kirk (fiancée Renee Gilbert) Babines, Darcy Babines, Jayna (Joe) Taylor and Todd (Amy) Savini; and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 29, 2021, at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Rt. 136, Madison, Pa., Ronald A. Rich Jr., supervisor/funeral director. A funeral service will be held at noon at the funeral home with Pastor Matthew Stabe officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
