The St. Andrew Summer Fest, which invites area residents, families and children to Monongahela, will take place this weekend.
The event, which was scaled back last year to adhere with pandemic restrictions, will resume in full force Saturday.
It usually attracts hundreds of visitors over the course of a weekend, but it will be condensed this year into a longer, one-day event.
Parish Business Manager Joe Caruso said the Summer Fest has taken place for decades.
Though it had to be modified last year, the event was still successful as families and residents placed food orders of their favorite homemade dishes in advance and picked them up to go.
Games, music and fellowship will return to the festival which is set to take place from noon to 10 p.m. at Parish Park in Monongahela.
Former chair of the event, the late Leticia “Tish” Cardis passed away unexpectedly in December.
“Tish had been in charge for more than 10 years,” Caruso said. “So between the pandemic and losing her, we had our hands full a little.”
Still, the parish pushed forward in planning the event, as parishioners and volunteers helped to prepare food, secure entrainment and make sure residents had an event to look forward to.
This years event will feature all the traditional fare, with dishes prepared by parishioners including pierogis, halupki, hot sausage and other items, as well as barbecue prepared by the Monongahela Knights of Columbus.
