This week marks the 82nd and 83rd annual conventions for the Fayette County Firefighters Association, the first time ever the association combined conventions for two years. The double convention is being hosted by the two Brownsville fire departments, Brownsville No. 1 and the South Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company. Through today, events will be held adjacent to the South Brownsville fire hall, while events Friday and Saturday will take place in Market Square in downtown Brownsville. At 6 tonight, the forcible entry and gear scramble competitions start. On Friday, the firefighters’ battle of the barrel competition is at 6 p.m., followed by live music at the Cast Iron Amphitheatre by the band Hollow Point from 9 to 11 p.m. Pictured above, Brownsville Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 fire Chief Jordan Sealy helped his 1-year-old daughter Grace during the kids’ battle of the barrel Wednesday evening.
