Cedarbrook alone in 1st

Cedarbrook coach Mariah Ward wondered what she was going to get out of her team when it went up against Lee Supply Monday night.
Playing without rising seniors Jazmine Dunn and Alyssa Clutter, other players needed to step up and fill the void.
Enter Katie Hoff, Iyanna Wade and Elle Snyder.
Those three combined to score 49 points to help keep Cedarbrook unbeaten with a 62-49 win over Lee Supply in Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League play at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center.
Hoff, a senior from Our Lady of Sacred Heart, poured in a team-high 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to lead the way for Cedarbrook (3-0). Wade, a Clairton freshman, tallied 16 points, while Snyder, a sophomore from Latrobe, scored 14 and added 15 boards.
It was a welcome sight for Ward that her team survived without two of their better players. It also spells bad news for the rest of the teams in the MVISBL’s girls division.
“We were missing two key leaders tonight and our players just all stepped up,” Ward said. “We needed it from them and they gave it to us.”
