Camaraderie, to members of the McKeesport Past and Present group, can’t be broken or diminished by long distances or time spent apart.
There’s a party going on in McKeesport, an annual celebration of heritage, family and friendship that has been bringing McKeesport natives back to the city for 15 years.
The committee of the McKeesport Past and Present Reunion is excited to bring its extended McKeesport family together for good times, laughter, singing and dancing, fellowship and a good meal this weekend.
The three-day reunion is a welcome home party for those who’ve moved away, and a chance for those who still call McKeesport home to see those they haven’t seen in a while.
The weekend is dedicated to the woman who inspired the creation of McKeesport Past and Present.
The late Barbara Jean Price was a teacher who graduated from McKeesport High School with honors and went on to study history at Lincoln University in Oxford, Pa., and the University of the District of Columbia, where she “learned to touch the future,” according to reunion organizer Alena Leggett.
“It has been said that like branches on a tree, our lives may grow in different directions, yet our common ground is that our roots, remain in McKeesport,” the committee said in a prepared statement.
