Monessen police are searching for a man accused of robbing a bank in Monessen.

City police Officer Rebekah Shrader said the suspect took an unspecified amount of money Friday afternoon from Citizens Bank at 1731 Grand Blvd. in Monessen’s Park Center Plaza.

Shrader said the man entered the bank at 1:24 p.m. and slipped a note to a teller demanding money.

It’s unclear if the suspect was armed. No one was hurt, according to Shrader.

Police said the suspect is a white or “light-skinned” bi-racial male who is approximately 6 feet tall. Shrader said it’s possible he could  be 6 feet, 2 inches or maybe even a little taller.

He was wearing black and white tennis shoes, black sweatpants and a white hooded sweatshirt with a black Puma logo on it. He was wearing a black ball cap under the hoodie and had on sunglasses and a black face mask.

She said bank tellers did not recognize the man, and he never spoke while inside the bank.

Shrader said nearby police departments and law enforcement agencies have been alerted to be on the lookout for the suspect.

It’s unclear whether he fled the area on foot or via a vehicle after walking out of the bank.

Anyone with information is asked to call Monessen police at 724-684-4620, or call their local police department. If it is an emergency, call 911.

The bank closed for the rest of the day after the incident.
