A 1970 graduate of Donora High School and student at California State College, Rick worked as a purchasing agent at McKnight Medical in Charleroi, priding himself with getting the best deals in the home care industry. Along with enjoying his job, he was a sports enthusiast and could always be found attending his children’s extracurricular activities as their number one fan. Throughout his life, he was very involved with community and church sports organizations in the Mon Valley, supporting them by either coaching or fundraising. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a long-time supporter of the school’s basketball program. He was a cancer survivor and even with his latest health struggles, his main focus was enjoying his children and the major events and achievements in their lives. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021, at RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen. Prayers will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, with Father Michael Crookston officiating. Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monongahela Valley Hospital’s Cancer and Infusion Center or a research center for the treatment of ulcerative colitis. The Rodriguez family would like to thank the Critical Care Team at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in their effort to help Rick fight the good fight.
