BeeGraphix’s Rodney Gallagher III played a significant role in the first half of Thursday’s game against Campy’s Pizza.
The Laurel Highlands standout scored six of his 14 first-half points in the final four and a half minutes to help lead BeeGraphix to a 32-30 halftime lead.
But it wasn’t until the 12-minute mark in the second half when Gallagher truly flipped the switch and took over.
He scored 18 of his game-high 32 points in the final 16 minutes to help lift BeeGraphix to a 70-61 win over Campy’s in Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League boys division play at Marx’s Court Time Sports Center.
“You’re getting to see a kid who I guess we could call a generational talent,” BeeGraphix assistant coach Bobby Zynosky said. “The kids, the fans and even the coaches want to sit around, watch our games and watch Rod go to work. We’re just thankful to have him.”
With his team trailing 45-39 in a five-on-five matchup without bench options, Gallagher made his presence felt by scoring 12 straight points during a 12-4 run that gave BeeGraphix (3-1) a 51-49 advantage with 8:53 to go.
