RESA Regional Police Car Show Sunday

An annual RESA police fundraiser is expected to draw a large crowd this weekend.

The 16th annual RESA Regional Police Car Show will take place Sunday in the parking lot of the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department.

RESA Administrator JJ Cullen said it’s the only fundraiser held by the department each year and typically raises about $4,000, which is used by the part-time department to purchase necessary equipment such as Tasers and bulletproof vests.

The department didn’t skip a year in 2020 because the fundraiser fell on a date in between shutdowns and was able to be held while adhering to restrictions in place.

Cullen said up to 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles are expected to attend.

Admission is free for the public, there is a $5 fee to register each classic or modern car, pick-up truck or motorcycle. Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 vehicles.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and the event, including a DJ and food prepared by officers, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.
