Charles F. Evans Jr., 79, of Washington, formerly of Monongahela, died Friday, July 2, 2021, at Townview Health Center and Rehabilitation, Canonsburg. He was born April 21, 1942, in New Eagle, the son of Charles F. and Ada Holt Evans. Chuck was a graduate of Charleroi High School, Class of 1960, and earned an associate degree in business from the Community College of Allegheny County. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, having served in Turkey and Japan during the Vietnam era. In his younger years, he coached youth soccer and basketball in Monongahela. Chuck retired in 2000 from Peoples Natural Gas in Pittsburgh with 32 years of employment. He was a member of the National American Legion, the Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Pittsburgh and a 50-year member of the Charleroi-Monongahela 337 F&AM Masonic Lodge. Chuck enjoyed woodworking, restoring old radios and was a huge NASCAR fan. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Coder Evans, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage on April 19, 2021; two daughters, Carrie Ann Wheaton and husband David of Canonsburg and Cynthia Lynn Mabry and husband Cory of Sharpsville; three grandsons, twins Adam and Brandon Wheaton and Levi Mabry. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021, with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. The Charleroi- Monongahela 337 F&AM Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. The family has requested that masks be worn in the funeral home and would like to thank you in advance for your understanding.
