Ronald W. ‘Bones’ Campana – Monessen
Ronald W. “Bones” Campana, 87, of Monessen, died Monday, June 28, 2021, as a result of complications from a stroke. He was born on Oct. 31, 1933, in Monessen, the son of the late Jasper and Italia Como Campana. “Bones” as he was affectionately known, lived his entire life in Monessen, graduated from Monessen High School in 1952 and worked as a barber up until May of this year. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 954 and the Mon Valley Leathernecks. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Michaelene Garofalo Campana; son, Ronald (Luanne) Campana of Shrewsbury, Mass.; his three grandchildren, Nicole Campana of Boston, Mass., Dominic Campana and his partner, Amanda Brennan of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Brian Campana and his wife Jessica of Uxbridge, Mass.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher in 2014; and three brothers, William, Ernani and Jasper Campana. To honor Mr. Campana’s request, there will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, in Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Mr. Campana’s name to St. Jude Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
