Donora has announced some temporary street closures and parking restrictions Monday as a result of filming for “American Rust.”
A “filming notice” posted on the Donora Borough Facebook page states the “American Rust” crews are “returning to Donora for one more day to make up for the day we canceled due to bad weather in the beginning of June.”
The borough said residents or motorists with questions can call the borough office at 724-379-6600.
“American Rust” is a Showtime television series that has filmed in several Mon Valley towns.
The show stars Jeff Daniels and is based on the novel, “American Rust,” by Phillip Meyer. The series is “a compelling family drama that will explore the tattered American dream through the eyes of complicated and compromised chief of police Del Harris (Daniels) in a Rust Belt town in southwest Pennsylvania. When the woman he truly loves sees her son accused of murder, Harris is forced to decide what he’s willing to do to protect him,” according to Showtime’s website.
Filming for the series has occurred in multiple Valley towns including Monessen and Clairton as well as Donora.
The notice states that filming crews will follow CDC guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and that the film crews are working in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Film Office and the borough “to ensure a safe and harmonious experience for our production and your community.”
