The Mon River Fleet Lions Club on Thursday shared a lot of love with the communities and organizations it serves, as it has done every year for a decade.
The club held its annual Mon River Fleet Lions Club Luncheon at the recently remodeled hall at White Oak American Legion General Smedley D. Butler Post 701, where it was joined by dignitaries such as McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko and 2020-21 Lions Club District 14-B (Allegheny County) Gov. Christopher Raynak.
In addition to serving as a chance for the pride of Lions to celebrate the closing of a successful fiscal year raising money for charity and performing community service projects, the event served as a chance to install a few new members and give out the club’s annual monetary awards to local service initiatives and organizations.
“This is our greatest event of the year in my opinion,” said Jim Phillips, who just finished his first year as Mon River Fleet Lions Club president and is excited about kicking off his second year in the seat. “Today is really extra special because we’ve got four new inductees. A couple are transports from our Glassport club, which is where I grew up, so it’s extra special to me for that.”
