Fireworks just part of Monongahela’s July 4 weekend

Monongahela will soon see what is expected to be one of its busiest weekends in recent memory.

The city’s Independence Day celebration will be a three-day affair that will culminate with the popular EQT and Monongahela Chamber fireworks display July 4.

Along with fireworks, the day will also feature music by local band Steeltown as well as nearly a dozen food truck vendors.

The chamber’s event is in addition to the Railroad Street Fair hosted by the Monongahela Youth Main Street Program earlier that day, and the city’s Noble J. Dick Aquatorium opens its concert season July 3 with Pittsburgh rockers Six Gun Sally.

On July 2, the Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation will hold its weekly farmers market.

“It will be a very big weekend,” said Monongahela Area Chamber of Commerce vice-president and Sparkles by Shell owner Michelle DeHosse. “I think Monongahela will be packed all weekend, which is good because it’s nice to see everyone again.”
