BV Legion sweeps Smithfield-Fairchance

The pitching of Andrew Kostelnik and Donovan Von Fradenburgh helped carry Belle Vernon Legion to a doubleheader sweep over visiting Smithfield Fairchance in Fayette County American Legion Baseball League play Wednesday.

Kostelnik tossed a complete game in a 5-1 win in Game one. He allowed one earned run on five hits while walking three and striking out six.

In a 4-0 Game two triumph, Von Fradenburgh was just as dominant, tossing 6 1/3 innings of three-hit ball. He walked four and struck out seven.

In the seventh inning, Zach Kutek closed out BV’s second win of the day by allowing a hit and striking out one in 2/3 of an inning.
