Zoning officer selected in Washington Township

Washington Township’s supervisors this week named an employee of K2 Engineering as the township zoning officer.
K2 Engineering provides engineering services for the township and was already responsible for issuing building permits.
The board of supervisors said former zoning officer Bill Bergman recently stepped down from the position, but didn’t give a reason why during the meeting.
Supervisors Jan Amoroso, Scott Hileman and Chuck Yusko approved appointing Allen Spaw of K2 Engineering to fill the vacant zoning officer position.
Amoroso said having K2 Engineering perform zoning officer duties will not come with an added expense for the township. Spaw said the company will be using the township’s zoning permit fee schedule already in place, which can be found at washingtontownshipbellevernon.org/notices/zoning-info/.
“So, the way it’ll work is, there’s already a zoning fee schedule, so we’ll collect the permit fee for issuing the permits,” Spaw said to a large crowd at the meeting, which was held in the township garage. “If we have to go out and actually make a site visit, we’re going to charge extra for that. But if we don’t have to make a site visit — which is the normal case — it’ll be no more than what you guys are charged now.”
