The opportunity to play college basketball was something Owen Newcomer always aspired to earn.
The former Frazier standout has dreamed of representing his high school and his community at the next level, while proving he belongs there.
“What excites me the most about college basketball is that I get to put on for Frazier,” Newcomer said. “I can prove myself even more.”
After a strong senior season with the Commodores, Newcomer has already proven worthy of a chance to play collegiate basketball.
He’ll soon be able to show it when he continues his academic and athletic careers at Washington & Jefferson College.
Newcomer, who recently signed his national letter of intent, will play for head coach Ethan Stewart-Smith and the Presidents, who went 7-3 overall this past season before falling to Thiel in the quarterfinals of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference tournament.
“Playing college basketball means a lot to me,” said Newcomer, the son of Keith and Kelly Newcomer of Newell. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid.”
