George W. ‘Pap Lazybones’ Gavrus — Tionesta, formerly of Glassport

George W. “Pap Lazybones” Gavrus, 71, of Tionesta, Pa., formerly of Glassport, Pa., died on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler, Pa., with his loving family by his side. He was born Oct. 21, 1949, in McKeesport, Pa., son of the late George and Sophie (Curtician) Gavrus. George was a Vietnam veteran, serving with the United States Navy. He later worked for U.S. Steel for 35 years at the Irvin Works in West Miffilin, Pa., as a grinder. He was married to Charlayne (March) Gavrus, who survives in Tionesta. In addition to his wife, also surviving are two daughters, Brandy (Gavrus) Nolder of New Manchester, W.Va., and Christi Cooper-Gavrus and her fiancé, Russell Milslagle Jr. of Port Vue, Pa.; two grandchildren, Marissa Nolder and her fiancé Nicholas Tice of Virginia and Jocelyn Nolder, also of New Manchester, W.Va. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, coach and friend. There will be no public visitation; all services held will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of NORMAN J.
