Roberto Gaidos – Frisco, N.C., Formerly of Monongahela

By obits

Roberto Gaidos, 71, formerly of Monongahela, died at his home in Frisco, N.C., on Sunday, May 30, 2021. He was born in Trieste, Italy, on Jan. 5, 1950, the son of the late Joseph “Sarge” Gaidos and Gemma DeSantis. Roberto was raised in Venezuela before reuniting with his father in Monongahela. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Roberto lived in Homestead, Fla., until returning to the Gaidos family home in Monongahela. He was employed at Combustion Engineering Co. and several construction companies in the Mon Valley. In 2001, Roberto moved to Frisco and formed his own business, O-Gee Enterprises, which, among other things, installed cargo lifts of his own design. Known for his wonderful breads, Roberto enjoyed living life to the fullest, but especially loved cooking and hosting large family dinner parties. He is survived by his wife, Carol Hughes Gaidos, with whom he would have celebrated 35 years of marriage on July 25. Also surviving are his sons, Roberto Gaidos Jr. of Avon Park, Fla., and Ted Trembush (Lynn) of West Newton; grandchildren, Stephanie Trembush of Charleroi, Teddy and Tina Trembush of Charleroi, Rachael Gaidos Johnson of Citrus Springs, Fla., and Joshua Gaidos of Avon Park, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Montanna and Angel Trembush, Reno Trembush, James Johnson and Joanna Gaidos; his sisters, Anna and Maria Teresa DeSantis of Venezuela; and his many, many friends on the island. In addition to his parents, Roberto was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jessica Trembush; and a brother, Giovanni DeSantis. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Upon moving to Hatteras Island, he always said, “I was born on the ocean; I think I’d like to die on the ocean.” So be it, Friend.
