Carroll Township municipal workers will soon be able to once again step inside the municipal building’s garage.
On Tuesday, Carroll Township supervisors approved a proposal from New Kensington-based construction firm Hunt Valley Environmental LLC to repair asbestos-related damage to the roof.
The two-day project is set to begin June 11 at a cost of $8,470.
Equipment was removed from the garage and it’s been closed since last week when it was discovered screws broke through the roof’s plywood sheeting and released asbestos into the air.
“We had a minor problem that became major,” Supervisors Chairman Tom Rapp said. “We haven’t been using the garage. All our equipment is out of there and our guys don’t work out there anymore until it’s corrected.”
