Charleroi planning for full summer of events

Summer events will kick  off in the Magic City next weekend.

Charleroi will host a monthly community-wide flea market beginning June 5. The effort started last year in the midst of the pandemic to find a way to bring residents together in a socially distanced, and safe manner.

While the event will look a bit different this year, organizer Nancy Ellis said the borough hopes it will be just as successful.

Last year, residents from throughout the Valley could bring their second-hand goods to set up booths in various parking lots throughout the borough on the second Saturday of each month.

This year, the borough will not open parking lots to sellers or advertise their addresses or goods for sale, but residents are still encouraged to be involved.

“We are just a little short staffed this year, and it is a lot of work to organize and put together,” Ellis said.

This year, the town-wide flea market will be held on the first Saturday of each month beginning in June and continuing through October.

Residents are encouraged to band together to set up on their properties if they would like to be involved.

“If families, friends or neighbors want to get together on their property to sell as a group, we are fine with that,” Ellis said. “We encourage it.”
