What do you do if you have enough artifacts regarding the U.S. Constitution and American history to fill a small museum? If you are former state Rep. Rick Saccone, you open one up.
Saccone recently opened the Constitution and Godly Heritage Discovery Center in a 550-square-foot facility on his property in Elizabeth Township.
“There’s a lot packed into the space,” he said.
Saccone has conducted a number of small, private tours of the center and hosted a grand opening earlier this month. He said he enjoys sharing his collection with others.
“I always watch their reaction when they first walk through the door and it’s always ‘Wow,’” Saccone said. “I can spend 2 ½ hours describing what’s in there.”
Saccone said creating the center was more than just a way of sharing the items he has collected over the years that were previously displayed in his legislative office and at St. Vincent College, where he had taught.
“For years now I’ve noticed there is a lack of understanding of our Constitution, our history and our heritage,” Saccone said.
