John Sobran – Monessen

John Sobran, 96, of Monessen, passed away on May 22, 2021, at his residence. John was born in Monessen on Jan. 5, 1925, to John and Eva Sobran. He was a member of St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church of Monessen and the American Legion. John honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Surviving are his son, John Sobran of Pittsburgh; a sister, Sophie Schuresko; his special niece, Karen Deveney; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sobran; two sons, Gregory and Richard Sobran; a brother, Chuck Punzell; and a sister, Mary Costine. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, where friends will be welcomed from 10 a.m. Tuesday until noon, the time of service.
