It will be some time next week, or even later, before the winner of the Republican nomination for Forward Township supervisor is known.

Jayme Stoffer was the only name on the Republican primary ballot, and she received 157 votes. But there were also 164 write-in votes. If at least 158 of those went to one person and that person accepts the nomination, they would appear on the November ballot in place of Stoffer.

Incumbent Tom DeRosa, who ran on the Democratic ticket,  also launched a write-in campaign for the Republican nomination. He reminded his supporters that the write-in would have to be for Thomas DeRosa, not any other variation of his name.

The primary race generated strong interest, with more than 39% of registered Republicans and 38.8% of registered Democrats showing up to vote or submit absentee ballots. There were no provisional ballots in the supervisors’ races. Countywide voter turnout was 28.69%.
