Despite complaints from residents, New Eagle officials say a local business is not in violation of any of the borough’s property ordinances.
Downfall Demolition, located at 146 Chess St., has not violated any Universal Property Maintenance codes, according to Mayor Chas Fine and Code Enforcement Officer Les Pemberton.
In a letter submitted to council last week, Fine and Pemberton said they inspected the property, owned by Corey and Debbie Behanna and rented by Jessica Levandonsky, on April 20 after residents spoke out at a council meeting about unused and broken down equipment stored in the front of the property and visible from the road.
Residents also complained about Downfall Demolition burning allegedly toxic materials late at night.
Two months ago, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection inspected Downfall Demolition and found no violations.
“The building is marked as commercial and taxes are commercial on the property,” Fine and Pemberton wrote in the letter, “again no issues found.”
