By obits

Elvera D. Dolfie Barcelona passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 14, 2021. She was born Jan. 15, 1941, daughter of the late Daniel J. Dolfie and Bridget Morreti Dolfie. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel J. Barcelona, a former special needs resident of Allegheny Valley School. She is survived by her husband, Charles J. Barcelona of Charleroi; her daughter, Pamela (Everett) Rodriguez of Bridgeville; and her beloved grandchildren, Kate Rodriguez (husband Trenton Salk) of Livermore, Calif., Abigail Rodriguez of Pittsburgh, Sevren Rodriguez of Pittsburgh and Erica Rodriguez of Oakdale. Elvera was a teacher’s aide in Intermediate Unit 1 for many years, then pursued her bachelor’s degree in special education from California University of Pennsylvania. She continued her career as a learning support teacher. She loved her family and enjoyed following her grandchildren on Facebook. She and Chuck enjoyed traveling and were able to take an Alaskan cruise and annual jaunts to Myrtle Beach and the Gulf Shores of Florida. They enjoyed going to the casinos and taking trips with their friends, especially enjoying group bus trips. Gardening was a passion for Elvera, sharing the fruits (and vegetables) of her bumper crop, especially her tomatoes, with friends and family. Elvera loved to shop and was the family go-to for sales and deals. She will be missed not only by her family, but by the merchants that she loved to visit. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Christian Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity she supported for her love of children. Donations can be made at www.fundaraising.stjude.org. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
