Mon Valley firefighters battled a heavy blaze over the weekend in Elizabeth Township.
Firefighters from Elizabeth Township Fire Department were called shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday to the 600 block of Industry Road for a report of a structure fire, according to a Facebook post from the township fire department.
First responders arrived on scene to find a house “well involved,” according to the social media post.
In another Facebook post, Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Company, which also responded, said the flames were “heavy” and that crews remained on scene until shortly after 5 a.m.
In an email to the Mon Valley Independent on Sunday, Elizabeth Township Fire Department public information officer James Chabalie stated that the house was vacant and no one was displaced by the fire.
“It does appear that the house was a loss,” he said.
Allegheny County Emergency Services Chief Matt Brown said Sunday evening the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters from Allegheny and Westmoreland counties responded to the blaze. Assisting Elizabeth Township Fire Department, in addition to Buena Vista VFC, were Glassport, Sutersville, Collinsburg and Rostraver Central fire departments.
