MVH reaches new contract with union

By Mon Valley Independent

For the Mon Valley Independent

Monongahela Valley Hospital and United Steelworkers Local 8041 have a new three-year contract that begins July 1 and runs through June 30, 2024.

Local 8041 represents approximately 44% of the hospital’s employees, including technical staff, nursing assistants, unit clerks, laundry, nutrition and food service, housekeeping and maintenance personnel. Nurses at Monongahela Valley Hospital are not members of the union.

“We are pleased that we have a new contact,” said Louis J. Panza Jr., president and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital. “Union leadership and members of Local 8041 are to be commended for once again demonstrating their commitment to our hospital and most importantly, our patients and this community by ensuring that they will continue to receive the highest quality of care.

“We deeply appreciate the extensive efforts of both negotiating teams, whose members worked diligently over the past few weeks to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Monongahela Valley Hospital’s greatest asset is its people — the dedicated, hard-working employees, physicians and volunteers who provide high-quality care to our patients and their families. It is an honor and privilege to work with this outstanding team to carry out our mission of caring for our community.”
