Howard Wolkowicz – Monongahela

By obits

Howard Wolkowicz, 64, of Monongahela, has passed to do Hagbah for Hashem (To-rah Lifter), which he did for many years at Temple Beth Am in Monessen. He was born Sept. 29, 1956, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Hermann and Lillian Weiss Wolkowicz. Howard was a man who wore many hats, the most important being a good son, brother and friend to everyone. Howard was a 1974 Ringgold High School graduate, a U.S. Army reserve veteran, a weight master, gold courier and Chef Tiny. He was also past president of the Arroas Haymakers Club in New Eagle. He was devoted to his family and friends. His favorite pastimes were gardening and watching the barges on the Mon with his sister. If Howard told you a story, as strange as it sounds, it was true. If he told you about 32 dozen of chocolate chips, it was true. If he told you about Marta hitting a horse he was on at Kennywood, it was true. If he told you about eating 22 steaks, four chicken breasts, two baked potatoes, two salads and two desserts, it was true. Howard came into this life larger than life. He had an appetite for life, good food and family. Howard is survived by his sister, Marta Wolkowicz-Brant; his girlfriend, Alberta; friend, William E. Carson; and many friends and relatives he leaves behind. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Miriam Wolkowicz. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Burial will follow in Ohav Shalom Cemetery, Carroll Township. In order to be compliant with our state guidelines concerning the COVID-19 pandemic, masks MUST be worn and social distancing maintained. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.fryefuneralhome.com.
