James P. ‘Jimmy’ Hartman

James P. “Jimmy” Hartman died Thursday, May 6, 2021, at his home. He was born in Allenport on Oct. 9, 1956, a son of the late John and Florence Watkins Hartman. Jimmy had worked for Jurik & Jurik in Donora, as an electrician for Amorox in Allenport and recently was the maintenance supervisor for the Borough of Allenport. He was a member for 46 years at the former Allenport VFD, where he served as chief, captain and president. Jimmy was a current member of borough council. For 20 years, he worked along with his late brother, William B. Hartman, at the White Barn Supper Club in Dunlevy. Growing up, Jimmy was an avid softball player. He enjoyed hanging out with his coffee buds at the former BP in Charleroi, Wendy’s and McDonald’s. Jimmy also enjoyed playing poker, the lottery and was a huge Elvis fan. He was a devoted father to his three children, Justin Battistone (Hartman) of Belle Vernon, Jill (Bryan) Hosko of Bethel Park and Molly Hartman of Belle Vernon; and a proud grandfather of his three grandchildren, Hunter Battistone, Deryk Hosko and Brylee Hosko. Jimmy is also survived by his brother, John Hartman Jr. of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; two sisters, Norma Kurek of Maxwell and Frances Chalfant of Belle Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Lastly, he is survived by his granddogs, Toby and Bane. He was preceded in death by his brother, William B. Hartman; and two sisters, Beverly Hartman and Virginia Moluski. Visitation was held Saturday, May 8, 2021, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1008 Furlong Ave., Roscoe, where funeral services were held Sunday, May 9, 2021.
