On Monday, the Commodores accomplished one of their main goals for the season by defeating Beth-Center, 20-1 in three innings to clinch no less than a share of the Section 3-2A title.
Frazier can wrap up the section outright with a win at home against Carmichaels today.
“It was important for a new team to come in here and create their own identity, and I think they’ve done that,” Don Hartman said after watching his team pick up its 13th win of the season. “With us winning at least a share of the section title, it shows that they are trying to build on the tradition that we have here at Frazier.”
As for the game itself, the Commodores put it away early. Frazier sent 15 hitters to the plate and scored 12 runs in the first inning.
Riley Evans knocked in the game’s first runs as she doubled to score Madison Bednar and Tori Washinski. Evans also scored on a wild pitch. A couple of Beth-Center errors helped Frazier pile up the early offense as well.
Delaney Warnick, Abby Scott and Skylar Hone each reached on a miscue, and all three scored. Nicole Palmer knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly before Jensyn Hartman connected for an RBI single. Bednar followed with a two-run double and Washinski also doubled in a run.
Before the inning was over, Evans connected on a two-run homer and Warnick belted a solo shot to give the Commodores a 12-0 lead.
“We came out with good at-bats and at this point, that’s what you’re looking for,” Don Hartman said.
