The food truck debate in Rostraver Township has come to an end, with the mobile food vendors permitted in residential areas for private parties and community events, as well as in other zoning districts as previously allowed.
“We have a shared economic environment that allows food trucks to come in but not infringe on brick and mortar businesses,” said Commissioners’ President John Lorenzo.
The one-day fee for food trucks at private events in residential areas was set at $10.

The commissioners Wednesday also voted to advertise an ordinance amendment which will ease some of the requirements for special hearings for various businesses including a number of home occupations. Lorenzo said the changes are being proposed as part of the comprehensive plan process to promote business development in the township without being burdensome on the businesses.
The commissioners voted to declare Stonegate Development in default of its developer’s agreement for failing to perform certain tasks including utility installation. The township is taking steps to claim the developer’s $49,606 development fee, which will then be used by the township to complete the required work so the roads in the development may be accepted by the township.
