For the MVI
Greenock United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Township will host a “Drive By and Donate” to local food pantries as a novel way to honor mothers from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.
“Many mothers are struggling to feed their families with the added strains of the coronavirus impacting jobs. Individuals may help to relieve this burden by contributing in their mother’s name or offering memorial donations,” said Pastor Lori Walters, who will be stationed with other volunteers in the church’s parking lot at 1213 Greenock Buena Vista Road.
Proceeds will benefit Elizabeth and Forward township food pantries and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Only money and check donations will be accepted due to COVID-19 restrictions. Organizers said donations of only $1 will help to buy five meals.
The community’s response and generoisty to previous drive-by events during the pandemic raised more than $7,000 in donations.
