Do headlines filled with politics, protests and pandemics have you feeling down in the dumps?
Comedians David Kaye, Tracie Jayne and Steve Hofstetter may have just the ticket to lift your spirits.
The trio will bring the laughs to the Rostraver Ice Garden Saturday for a night of socially distanced stand-up comedy for ages 21 and over.
As the country begins to crawl out from the year-long pandemic, Kaye, a Pittsburgh native, says laughter is the second-best medicine.
“It’s a welcomed relief,” Kaye said from his Crafton-based Slapstick Productions. “We’ve been unable to get together and share laughter with our friends and family. This is a celebration of the hopefully nearing end of this pandemic as we come out of our isolation and gather again.”
Kaye will be joined by Hofstetter, a New York comedian known for his ability to shoot down hecklers in the blink of an eye. His YouTube and Facebook videos have garnered more than 500 million views.
Hofstetter also has ties to Pittsburgh. In 2014, he formed the Steel City Arts Foundation, a charitable arts foundation based in Pittsburgh solely centered on the craft of comedy and assisting rising stars in fulfilling their dreams of becoming touring professional comedians.
“He’s an incredible writer and storyteller,” Kaye said. “He’s like a comedy technician. The guy knows his work in and out. Every situation I’ve seen him in, he’s able to adapt.”
