Rostraver Historical Society back in business

After being closed for most of the past year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Rostraver Township Historical Society is beginning to return to normal.
The historical society recently hosted an open house, which had been postponed from last fall, to show off its new Civil War and Rostraver rooms as well as the newly renovated meeting hall, Hall of Flags and military history areas. The new rooms include historic displays documenting Rostraver’s role in the Civil War as well as the early and ongoing history of the township and its schools in the Rostraver Room.
Historical society Vice President Stu Boyd said the Rostraver Room provides a place where visitors can spend time looking through the scrapbooks, yearbooks and photo albums that bring back memories of their childhood or other family memories.
“I like looking through the albums from Webster,” Boyd said of his hometown.
Boyd said the historical society has yearbooks from every year for the old Rostraver High School and the current Belle Vernon Area High School.
