    Raymond S. Ambrose, 95, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away Monday, April 26, 2021, at Country Care Manor. Born May 13, 1925, in North Belle Vernon, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Naccarato Ambrose. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Ambrose was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Roscoe, where he was a devoted member. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport, where he worked as an electrician. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, was a member of VFW Post 699 in Belle Vernon, American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon and was a member and former board member at the Center on the Hill. Ray loved western movies, horses and always had a passion for wanting to be a cowboy. Ray also loved to tinker and had a knack of fixing anything for anyone. He is survived by his wife, Vilma “Sandy” Sands Ambrose, to whom he was married 68 years; son, Raymond L. Ambrose of Belle Vernon, two daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Darryl Sickels of Fairhope and Mary and Paul Bednarczyk of Washington Township; six grandchildren, Raymond P. Ambrose and Dean Farine, Samuel M. Ambrose and Elizabeth Godshall, Matthew Sickels and fiancé Corin, Joshua Sickels, Daniel Bednarczyk, and Erica Morton and husband Austin; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Sickels. He is preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Anthony, Robert and Albert Ambrose; three sisters, Louise Welch, Florence Comadena and Virginia Comadena; and a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Ambrose. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Elder James Abbott officiating. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. In accordance with state mandates, masks MUST be worn and social distancing must be maintained. Condolences are accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
