Mon Valley residents and their furry four-legged friends will be in the spotlight Saturday when the Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation holds its 12th annual Mutt March.
Registration for the event will begin at 10 a.m. in the lot on Railroad Street across from McDonald’s, and the parade will start at 11 a.m. in the parking lot behind Subway.
The parade will be led by Ringgold grad and Army National Guard Sgt. Lindsay Trytcha and her German shepherd, Panzer, who will take participants onto Second Street and then onto Main Street toward Chess Park.
Monongahela police and fire departments will stop traffic at each intersection as the parade makes its way through the city.
The event will take place rain or shine and is sponsored by Monongahela Animal Hospital and Eddie Volker’s Body Shop.
The event, formerly known as the Pooch Parade, was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s fun, it’s light and it’s a whimsical community event,” said the event’s chairwoman, Corrina Withrow. “I think people are tired of being indoors. Everybody is looking forward to getting out. It’s a family-fun event, and you don’t have to have a dog, come on down, grab yourself a hot dog and watch us.”
