Kathryn Kay Minkovich Briggs, 89, of Rostraver Township, formerly of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. The daughter of the late Michael and Mary Lensky Minkovich, Kathryn was born on Aug. 29, 1931, in North Charleroi. A member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, she worked for Lee-Norris and Ingersoll Rand for many years until her retirement. Kay was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. She also enjoyed baking, cooking and listening to her audio books. She took great pride in her home and was a truly special person who will be dearly missed. Kay is survived by her daughter, Rebecca M. Staricek; daughter, Lauren (David) Altemara, with whom she made her home; her grandson, Dante Altemara, whom she loved dearly; step-grandchildren, Ashley (Jay) Keppich and David J. Altemara; her sister, Helen Chapasko; and several loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Frederick C. Briggs; sisters, Mae Slavonia and Antoinette Bartosik; and her brothers, Walter, Mike, Joe, Lou, Tom and Nick Minkovich. Friends and family will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2021, at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Mikonis at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Kay would like you to “pay it forward.” If you know of someone in need or an organization, please help them in memory of Kay.
