The Mon Valley continues to do its share to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and on Wednesday Monessen will be the site of another vaccination clinic held by a former city resident.

The clinic will be hosted by Anthony Bertola, owner of Pharmacy Care Primary Services, and will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Epiphany of Our Lord Church on Pennsylvania Boulevard.

The appointment-only clinic is sponsored by the Mon Valley Independent.

This week’s clinic will include the second of the two-shot Moderna vaccine.

The first shots were put into arms March 31, and Bertola said 160 people received the first vaccine. He said people who received the shots that date have already scheduled an appointment for their second shot Wednesday.

He said vaccinations are a crucial step to ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re going to keep putting (the vaccine) out there,” he said. “I think if people want to move forward with their lives, they should consider getting vaccinated. No ifs, ands or buts.”
