Charleroi will try again to find manager

Charleroi is having mixed fortunes on the hiring front.

Council has been trying to fill some open positions in recent weeks, including laborers on the street crew, a new street foreman and a newly created borough manager.

While some positions have been filled, including the street foreman and a laborer, offers for the borough manager and another spot on the street crew have been declined.

During a meeting April 14, council unanimously agreed to offer the borough manager slot to a Pittsburgh-area man.

He was not identified, but Council President Mark Alterici said council was aware he was also interviewing for a similar position in another borough.

He declined the offer from Charleroi because the other job was closer to his home, Alterici said.

At that same meeting, council offered a street crew position to another man, but he informed council he will be moving out of state to take a different job.

Council agreed at a special meeting this week to re-advertise the jobs, which will mark the third time they are advertising for a borough manager.
