Dennis Darnell Hawkins Sr. – Donora

By obits

Dennis Darnell Hawkins Sr., a loving husband, father and grandfather, peacefully went to sleep in death on April 9, 2021, surrounded by family. He was born on Aug. 26, 1961, to parents Edward Hawkins and Cornelia Hawkins Derickson, both who preceded him in death. Dennis grew up in Highland Park, Mich. Later in Dennis’ life, he met a young girl named Noreen Tartt and together they had one son, Dennis Hawkins Jr. Dennis was always proud of his son and often said his son’s industriousness was a result of his personality. Throughout his life, Dennis’ greatest joy was having and spending time with his grandchildren, Dennis III, Dein and Kenza. Dennis also had a wife he loved and cherished, Kathy Hawkins. He enjoyed “old school” music, talking loud, eating (especially sweets) and most of all shopping. He was always looking for someone to accompany him on his shopping trips. Dennis loved all his family and would do anything for them. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kathy; son, Dennis; three grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Jr., Daryl and Tony; five sisters, Darlene, Tina, Deanna, Toshia and Yvetta; one uncle and one aunt; many nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins (especially Karen); and many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lil Danny, Gregory and our beloved Brent; and one sister, Venus Vernell. Public viewing will be 5 to 7 p.m., April 23 at First Baptist Church of Donora, 541 Allen Ave., Donora, PA 15033. Celebration of his life will be held at the Donora Borough Building, 601 Meldon Ave., Donora, from noon to 10 p.m April 24.
