Paul ‘Redbird’ Mannella – Charleroi
Paul “Redbird” Mannella, 88, of Charleroi, Fallowfield Township, died Friday, April 16, 2021, at home. He was born Nov. 10, 1932, in Monongahela, the son of Thomas and Sarah Candela Mannella. Paul was a 1950 graduate of Monongahela High School and a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Camp Gordon, Ga., during the Korean War. He was formerly employed at Combustion Engineering in East Monongahela and then retired in 1995 from Union Carbide Dye in McKeesport. He was a member of the Naomi Athletic Club in Fayette City, American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon and numerous other clubs throughout the Mon Valley area. Paul’s passions were cooking, dancing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Mary Kathryn Randall Mannella, with whom he celebrated 44 years of marriage on July 1, 2020; two daughters, Paula Blangger of Canton, Ohio, and Wendy Borrelli and husband John of Rostraver Township; son, Michael Mannella and wife Stacey of Cuyahoga, Ohio; four stepchildren, William Marraccini and wife Jan of Bangor, Terry Nicely and husband Dave of Eighty Four, Valerie Stitch and husband Dennis and Eugene Marraccini, all of Lock View; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dean Blangger. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021, with the Rev. Larry Coltura officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery.
