Regina Jean D’Errico (born Berkovich), 89, was called home to the Lord on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 11, 2021, in Baltimore, Md. After years of putting up the good fight with chronic pain and illness, Jean fell asleep peacefully, surrendering her soul with her daughter, Lenese, by her side. Jean D’Errico was born April 26, 1931, in Monessen, where she grew up on Linden Avenue and attended St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic church as a life-long parishioner. Jean worked at McGuire’s sewing factory as a seamstress as well as at Janosik and Span’s drugstore, where she met her future husband, Thomas D’Errico. Together they moved to Ocean City, Md., embarking on a career in hotel management and raising a beautiful family of four daughters. Over the course of the years, Jean welcomed a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren and her love, affection and comfort were second to none. She will always be lovingly remembered and sorely missed as our Baba. Jean D’Errico was loved by everyone she met and was always the life of the party. Jean will be remembered for her devotion to her Catholic faith, her dedication to her family, her generous heart, her hilarious storytelling and her outstanding cooking, including the many recipes that her children and grandchildren learned at her knees and continue to make and cherish to this day. Jean enjoyed crocheting and was known for her beautiful afghan blankets, which you could be sure to receive for special occasions and which continue to wrap her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in her love and warmth. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D’Errico; mother, Mary Timkovich Berkovich; father, Alex Berkovich; sister, Mary Desenberg; brothers, Johnny Berkovich, Alex Berkovich, Johnny, Charlie and Nicky; sister, Mary; and two stillborn babies, Mary and Christopher. She leaves behind her daughters, Lenese Diapoulis, Regina O’Malley, Christina Vermeire (Glenn) and Mary Ann D’Errico. In addition, she leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren, Nicholle O’Malley-Hoogstraten (Keith), JR Vermeire, Tommy Diapoulis (Lindsey), Stephanie Vermeire, Stacy Vermeire, Chrissy Vermeire, Gina May, Mary May, Jackie Bauer (Ryan), Matt May, Joey May and Bridget Hammond; and her great-grandchildren, Luke, Sophia, Anna, Emmy, Natty, Matthew, Ry and Jude. Jean’s legacy will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all those she met and touched through the years. Visitors are welcome to celebrate Jean’s life and share warm memories. Viewings will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at ROBERT A.
