Helen Dorothy Popovic, 102, of Port Vue, died on April 8, 2021. Born on Aug. 17, 1918, she is the daughter of the late Michael T. and Anna Gdovic Tutko and the wife of the late Stephen P. Popovic. She was a dedicated member of Holy Family Parish, a member of Port Vue Senior Citizens and worked the voting polls in the borough for many years. She was one of the original “pierogi ladies” at her church. She liked feeding the birds, cooking and baking. She enjoyed hosting large family gatherings at the holidays. In August of this year, Helen would have turned 103 and this was the day that she was finally going to give up her driver’s license. She is survived by sons, David (Caroline) Popovic of Port Vue, Thomas (Virginia) Popovic of Belle Vernon and Robert (the late Darlene) Popovic of Port Vue; grandchildren, Robert Popovic, Michelle (Jamie) Colecchi, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Popovic, Jill (Joel) Salaske and Adele Popovic; great grandchildren, Clayton and Cameran Colecchi; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by siblings, Michael Tutko, Mary Sherman, Irene Belany, Anna Mastrovich and an infant sister, Dorothy. Family and friends will gather at STRIFFLERS OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177) from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021. Mass will be held at noon Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Holy Family Polish National Catholic Church, 1921 Eden Park Blvd., McKeesport, PA 15132. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family and our team members appreciate that all visitors follow the current CDC guidelines, including wearing of masks, social distancing and capacity limits.
