James Weldon, 81, of Fayette City, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, April 1, 2021, in UPMC Presbyterian. A son of the late Owen and Ann O’Toole Weldon, he was born in North Charleroi on Dec. 18, 1939. Catholic by faith, James resided in Fayette City for 52 years, was a member of the Fayette Beagle Club and retired from Ringgold School District as an industrial arts teacher. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting with his beagles. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Pat Hecklick Weldon; a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. John and Dorothy Weldon of Monongahela; and his pet beagles, Molly and Bonnie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madona Weldon, in infancy; and three brothers, Patrick Weldon, in infancy, Owen “Mick” Weldon and Tom Weldon. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. A blessing will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Father Michael Crookston as celebrant. Social distancing and face masks are required in both the funeral home and the church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. If friends wish, memorial donations may be made to C.O.R.E.
