A 16-year-old Boy Scout approached Donora Council during Thursday’s work session to seek permission and support for his Eagle Scout project.
Braydon Wilcher, who lives in Donora and is a sophomore at Ringgold High School, is at the life rank of the Boy Scouts and working on the requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.
“I am required to complete an Eagle project to benefit my community,” Braydon said.
His proposed project, he said, is close to his heart because of his family.
It’s called, “Let’s Swing.”
Braydon wants to make Palmer Park a place where everyone can be included.
His plan is to get help from the borough, residents and Donora businesses in addition to the support of his family, friends and fellow Boy Scouts to raise money to buy two adaptive swings for the park.
“My goal is to make Palmer Park more handicapped friendly by adding swings to help those with limited mobility,” Braydon said.
Braydon’s Eagle Scout project will include not only the fundraising and purchase of the swings, but also the hanging of the swings and work to make the area safe.
