Frazier’s Tori Washinski played the hero in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday. In Game 2, South Allegheny’s Breena Komarnisky took over the role for the Gladiators.
In a matchup of two of the top programs in the Mon Valley, Frazier and South Allegheny needed extra innings in each game and split a twinbill in Perryopolis.
In Game 1, Washinski smacked an RBI single to left in the bottom of the ninth inning to score Jensyn Hartman with the gamewinner as the Commodores pulled out a thrilling 6-5 win.
It was Washinski that scored the game-tying run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh on a passed ball.
Madison Bednar went 3 for 4 for the Commodores and Washinski was 2 for 5 with a pair of RBIs.
Rylee Evans also went 3 for 4 for Frazier, knocking in a pair of runs.
Freshman Nicole Palmer picked up the win on the mound by tossing a complete game with 11 strikeouts. She allowed 12 hits and only walked two.
